This August, we are excited to spotlight Bonnie as our Featured Caregiver!
Bonnie has been a caregiver with Sunny Days Southwestern PA for over three years and has earned the trust and admiration of both clients and coworkers. Originally from Monaca, Pennsylvania, she continues to call Monaca home. She has a husband, children, and grandchildren who mean so much to her.
While she does not have any pets of her own, Bonnie is an animal lover with a special love for cats. Her children have pets, and she occasionally gets to care for her “fur grandbabies.” Her favorite food is spaghetti and meatballs, her favorite movie is Gone with the Wind, and she enjoys listening to music from the ’60s. A fun fact about Bonnie is that she loves comedy movies—the zanier, the better! Outside of work, she enjoys relaxing at home and spending time with her family.
Why Bonnie Loves Caregiving
Bonnie’s favorite part about being a caregiver is helping her client be the best he can be. When asked what caregiving means to her, she shared:
“It means everything to me and gives me the feeling that I am making a difference in someone’s life.”
Her advice to new caregivers is simple but powerful:
- Remember that there will be trying days, but there will also be many more rewarding ones
- Never give up on anyone
- Focus on the meaningful connections you build with your clients
One of Bonnie’s favorite memories with a client was taking a day trip to a thrift store together. They had so much fun and both came home with secondhand treasures to remember the day by.
