Getting to Know Samaria
Samaria has been part of the Sunny Days Mon Valley team for two months. Originally from Savannah, Georgia, she has settled into life in McKeesport, PA. At 21 years old, Samaria is single with no children or pets, giving her plenty of time to focus on her goals both in and out of caregiving.
A Few Fun Facts About Samaria
Samaria’s favorite food is shrimp eggrolls, her go-to movie is Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and her playlists lean toward Neo Soul and Gospel. She’s also a former competitive runner — Samaria ran cross country and track in school, qualifying for the state championships twice! When she’s not caring for clients, you’ll likely find her painting or building her portfolio for college.
Why Samaria Loves Caregiving
For Samaria, the best part of the job is listening. She genuinely enjoys hearing her clients’ life stories and soaking up the insights they’ve gathered over a lifetime. When asked what caregiving means to her, Samaria shared:
“It means being of service to me, being a vessel for care and support.”
Her advice to new caregivers is simple but powerful: be patient, because paying attention to the small details goes a long way. One of her favorite memories on the job was taking a client to see the Michael Jackson movie together for Mother’s Day — a small outing that turned into a lasting memory for both of them.
