The Secret to Roxanne’s Great Lakes Care? Getting to Know You First
Meet Roxanne, our Sunny Days In-Home Care Great Lakes Featured Caregiver for the month of September!
Roxanne has been with Sunny Days In-Home Care Great Lakes for a little over five months. Originally from Gaastra, Michigan, she now calls Iron River, Michigan home. Family is incredibly important to Roxanne. She helps raise three amazing kids, Logan, Bentley, and Haily, and is engaged to her fiancé, Dignity. She also has two sisters, Yvonne and Tanya, a brother, Harold, and a brother-in-law, Ken.
Her favorite foods are tacos and spaghetti, her favorite movie is Save the Last Dance, and she enjoys listening to rap music. A funny fact about Roxanne: she once stared at the same picture on her phone for so long that people started asking if she ever puts her phone down! Outside of work, she loves spending time with her family and friends.
What Caregiving Means to Roxanne
Roxanne’s favorite part about being a caregiver is helping people who may not be able to do everything for themselves. To her, caregiving means providing emotional, daily, and physical support to individuals who need a helping hand.
Her Advice for New Caregivers
- Take the time to truly get to know your clients — their likes, dislikes, and how they prefer things to be done
- Have patience
- Take care of yourself so you can give your best care to others
A Memory That Still Makes Her Laugh
One of Roxanne’s favorite memories with a client was sharing a funny conversation that had them both laughing so hard they were crying and their stomachs hurt!
