Dedicated Caregiver Serving the Great Lakes Region
At Sunny Days In-Home Care Great Lakes, we are proud to recognize caregivers who make a positive difference in the lives of seniors and families throughout Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and surrounding Great Lakes communities. This August, we are excited to spotlight Lori as our Featured Caregiver!
Lori has been a caregiver with Sunny Days Great Lakes for a few years and has earned the trust and admiration of both clients and coworkers. Originally from Marquette, she currently lives in K. I. Sawyer. Lori is the proud mom of two children, Aubrey and Erin, and her family also includes three huskies and a bearded dragon.
Her favorite food is lasagna, her favorite movie is Battleship, and she loves listening to rock music. One fun fact about Lori is that she carried the torch for the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics—what an incredible honor! Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family.
Why Lori Loves Caregiving
Lori’s favorite part about being a caregiver is helping people remain in their homes for as long as possible. Caregiving means the world to her, and she has been caring for others since she was very young. She finds it incredibly rewarding to help people stay safely at home rather than having to move into a facility or spend unnecessary time in the hospital.
Her advice to new caregivers is an important reminder that cuts to the heart of what it means to provide care with respect and dignity:
“We care for our clients in their home. They don’t live in our workspace.”
Lori believes in respecting each client’s home, independence, and dignity while providing the care they need. One of Lori’s favorite memories as a caregiver was helping make a client’s final wish come true—a meaningful experience she will always carry with her.
