Caregiver Spotlight: Kecia in Northwestern Pennsylvania

Kecia has been with Sunny Days for four years. She is originally from Brooklyn, New York and currently lives in Sharon, Pennsylvania with her dog. She has six sons, RayQuan, David, Marquis, Prince, Tyquan and Davon Mays. Her favorite foods are fried chicken, seafood and vegetables, and her favorite types of music are R&B and Gospel. A fun fact about Kecia is that she is a very helpful person. She doesn’t like to see people down and loves to uplift others whenever she can. She enjoys making people laugh and is a great listener. Outside of work, she spends her time cleaning and taking care of her five grandchildren, Korah, Daylan, Jett, Kylo and Pia Mays.

Kecia’s favorite part about caregiving is taking care of her clients. She enjoys cleaning for them, talking with them, listening to them, hearing about their day, and making them laugh. When asked what caregiving means to her, Kecia said, “Caregiving means helping people who need companionship, helping them be more independent, and showing those who feel they are not loved that they are.” Her advice to new caregivers is to do your tasks once you clock in, keep your clients happy, keep a good attitude, and listen to them. Her favorite memory with a client was helping one of her clients get his smile back. He ended up requesting her as his Monday caregiver and never wanted her to leave.
