When Your Client Is Your Daughter: Kris’s Story at Sunny Days Southwestern
Meet Kris, our Sunny Days In Home Care Southwestern Featured Caregiver for the month of September!
Kris has been with Sunny Days In Home Care Southwestern for three years. Born and raised in McDonald, Pennsylvania, she still proudly calls McDonald home. Kris is married to her husband, Dave, and they have one daughter, Julie, who is also a Sunny Days client! Their family also includes their dog, Toby.
Kris’s favorite foods are steak and seafood, her favorite movie is The Notebook, and she enjoys listening to country music along with hits from the ’70s and ’80s. A fun fact about Kris is that she has a twin brother! Outside of work, she enjoys shopping, going out to eat, and especially going to ceramics.
What Caregiving Means to Kris
Kris’s favorite part about being a caregiver is being able to help people with their daily living needs. To her, caregiving means being helpful, trustworthy, and dependable for those who rely on you.
Her Advice for New Caregivers
- Take the time to have conversations with your clients and truly get to know them
- Stay off your phone and be present
- Give your clients the attention they deserve
Caring for Her Own Daughter
For Kris, caregiving is especially meaningful because her daughter, Julie, is her Sunny Days client. When asked about her favorite memory with a client, Kris shared that because Julie is her daughter, they have so many favorite memories together that it would be impossible to choose just one!
Thank You, Kris
We are so grateful to have Kris as part of the Sunny Days In Home Care Southwestern family. Her dependability, compassion, and commitment to being present for those she cares for truly represent what caregiving is all about.
Congratulations, Kris, on being our Featured Caregiver for the month of September!
